Did you know that if you have flat foot, you probably have overpronation on your feet? Flat foot is a relatively common condition. It’s usually painless but can sometimes contribute to ankle and knee problems since having a flat foot can alter the alignment of your legs. These symptoms are usually associated with flat foot, such as pain in the heel, over-pronation, shin splint, low back pain, knee pain, and more. A good pair of footwear and orthotics insoles is crucial for the flat foot as a well-fitted shoe can provide you with adequate support, and a flat foot insole helps relieve pressure on your arch and reduce flat foot pain. FeetCare takes in a wide variety of shoes, slippers, and flat foot insoles treating flat foot pain. In the long run, our customers can do a lot of outdoor activities such as jogging, hiking, and weight-lifting without suffering from pain as our shoes and insoles provide good support for your arch and body alignment. It’s crucial to correct pronation to avoid other foot conditions. Here’s where we can help for your flat foot pain. |
Flat foot is also known as fallen arches. People with flat foot have either no arch or have a very low arch.
When a person stands, the arches raise off the ground slightly. The purpose of the arches is to provide a spring to the step and help to distribute body weight across the feet and legs.
For someone with Flat Foot, their ankles may roll inwards when they are standing or walking. This is called overpronation. It causes fatigue, ankle sprains, shin splints, knee pain and even lower back pains because of the misalignment from the feet to the lower back.
Common causes of flat foot include:
Genetic factors (flat foot can pass from parents to children in the genes)
Obesity
Injury to your foot or ankle
Aging
Diabetes
Damage of the posterior tibial tendon
The most common symptom of flat foot is pain in the feet. This can occur as a result of strained muscles and connecting ligaments.
Pain most commonly affects the following parts of the body:
☑ Arch of the foot
☑ Calf
☑ Knee
☑ Hip
☑ Lower back
☑ Lower Legs
☑ One or both feet may also feel stiff
Flat foot can also cause an uneven distribution of body weight. This may result in shoes wearing down unevenly or more quickly than usual, especially on one side, which can lead to further injuries.
“ Thank you for recommending the insoles. Ever since we started using them, we cannot do without them “

Fitted insoles and orthotics or custom-designed arch supports can address overpronation and provide relieve and reduce pain from the feet to the lower back. They can be swapped among shoes to ensure that each pair of shoes give adequate support.
Additionally, slippers with arch support can provide long term comfort especially in Singapore where we wear slippers most of the time.
For children below 12 years old, early diagnosis and treatment may even help them to develop arches as they grow older.
Surgical procedures are available too to correct Flat Foot, but that should usually be considered only after all conservative measures are explored.
